4th of July Traditions

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. For us it just consists of simple fun and traditions with our family. We have a few traditions that we always do with the kids that I hope they remember when they are grown up.

Glass Bottle Cokes and The Sandlot
Glass Bottle Cokes were always a staple at my Maw Maw's house growing up. She had a bottle opener on the cabinet under her sink. I spent lots of time with her growing up and a glass bottle coke will always make me think of her. Plus coke tastes better out of a glass bottle.

We also always watch The Sandlot around the 4th, I can't think of a movie that describes summer better.

 Patriotic Shirts
We always make sure we have red, white, and blue to wear on the 4th. Of course this Mama has to take pictures of her kiddos in their patriotic clothes. These are a few of my favorite from previous years.

My husband also loves to grill out. One of the yummy sides we usually have is corn dip. It's super easy to make, just grab a bag of Fritos and you are good to go. The recipe can found here.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July!

  1. Hello!
We are very much the same here.
Our traditional movie for the Fourth of July is Jaws!!!
And I LOVE the little dress your daughter has on in that photo!
My grandma always had those coke bottles too.
Thanks for the memory. : )

    1. Jaws is an awesome movie for the 4th! That dress Evie wore was one of my all time favorites on her. Looking at those two pictures yesterday I couldn't believe how much they had grown in two years! I'm glad those coke bottles brought up happy memories. :)
